Beef Brisket Slow Cooker Foil Wrapped
Beef Brisket Crock Pot Recipe
A Crock Pot or slow cooker can be a great tool for cooking beef. One of my favorite things to make is this simple crock pot flat cut brisket recipe.
The meat has all the smoky flavor but cooks in a slow cooker while you're away. You can come home any weeknight to a delicious meal that's ready to be eaten.
I have to give my mom all the credit for this dish. I was never a big fan of beef growing up but this was the one recipe I requested for dinner time and time again.
This brisket recipe uses liquid smoke to give the meat a delicious smoky flavor without a smoker. Cooking it in the crockpot means the mean comes out tender and just falls apart when you eat it.
Ingredients
This recipe is so easy and simple. There are only 3 ingredients that you'll need to make this happen.
- Flat cut brisket
- liquid smoke
- McCormick Montreal Steak Seasoning
- aluminum foil
What is a flat cut brisket?
We've always used a flat cut brisket for this recipe. They can be a bit pricey so if you see one on special snatch it up fast!
This is a leaner cut of beef which makes it ideal for the slow cooker! It will generally be a bit square shaped and about 2 inches thick. One side will have a full layer of fat.
Leave the fat layer intact when cooking your brisket to help give it flavor and moisture. You can take it off when serving.
Crock Pot Smoked Brisket Recipe
1 – Tear off 2 long pieces of aluminum foil. You'll be cooking your brisket inside the foil so it needs to be big.
Match up the long edges of the two pieces and create a fold so you have one large piece of foil. The fold should help to hold in the juices.
2 – Place your beef brisket in the center of the foil with the fat layer down. Coat your brisket with liquid smoke. Don't be afraid to use a lot. Use your hand to ensure it's rubbed into the vertical edges as well.
Pour a little extra around the edges of the meat as well once you have it all coated. This is going to be the only liquid added to your meat so you want enough to add moisture.
3 – Next, coat the brisket with a generous layer of McCormick Montreal Steak Seasoning.
4 – Now, fold up the aluminum foil around the brisket to complete cover and seal the meat. You want a nice tight fit to help seal in moisture during cooking.
5 – Place into the crockpot and cook on low for 6-8 hours. If you need to speed up the cooking a bit you can cook it on high for the first hour then turn it down on low. Low and slow is going to give you the best results.
6 – Carefully unwrap the top of the foil. You can slice the meat but I prefer to pull it apart with a pair of tongs. The meat should come out tender enough to simply break off long strips.
Optional: Serve with a beef gravy but this may mask some of the rich smoky beef flavor of the meat.
What to serve with your beef brisket
Faux smoked beef brisket is a hearty dish so what better to serve with it then potatoes and veggies?!
My husband loves mashed potatoes so we generally have mashed potatoes and I love to pair it with bright vegetables like mixed veggies, broccoli, or fresh green beans.
Fries are also another great choice to serve as a side. It's also a great way to use any leftovers. Cut up the brisket and serve it over fries with some cheese and guacamole if you have it and boom, you have some delicious brisket fries.
